Instructions for installing W3 cache for beginners Adding a caching plugin to your website is one of the first things to do if you want to speed up your page. Among them, the best plugin for your job is W3 Total Cache. Plugins are popular with WordPress users, but overcoming settings (more than 15 options in General Settings) will scare beginners. But once you get it right, it helps speed up the site. We will focus specifically on the best W3 Total Cache installation to use for shared WordPress hosting.
There are plenty of platforms to solve it, so start working right away!
W3 Total buffer settings - control panel
Once you have installed and activated the plugin, you are ready to begin.
Plugin dashboard
- Plugin menu: A new item, Performance, is added to the toolbar as well as to the menu on your WordPress dashboard.
Click Performance on the side of your dashboard and take a minute to browse through the plugin menu to get an idea of their various features.
That big list will be scary, but don't deal with lots of items, especially on shared hosting.
- Check compatibility, empty buffers: The control panel is the place to delete the buffer modules and check the compatibility of the server-plugin.
To get started, click Check Compatibility. The results show what the plugin does or not with your current server configuration. Based on the results, enable the plugin option and see if additional server support is required for some settings.
With shared hosting, you can't fix any compatibility issues. You should not be too stressed, but configure this right away.

Minimize compression and incorporate multiple CSS and JavaScript files on your site. Select Auto to automatically take care of them. Make sure to preview after selecting this setting to make sure thumbnails don't cause any problems on your page.
- Database buffer
Database buffers help you store the results of common database queries. It will damage server resources and on a shared server, it can really fight you. Ideally, you should skip this option.
- Object Cache - Cache objects
Object Cache also has lots of server resources, so it's better to keep it disabled on shared hosting packages.
